Another day in the neighborhood, as I always like to start my posts with that, for some damn reason. I have no idea why, other than to say welcome, in some dumbass way. Alright, hofully soon, I can start the whole video blogging thing. I have the cam, and all that. It just seems easier to type and correct, than to film and edit. But we shall see. I thought about starting a whole website. Register the domain, get webhosting and all of that. Maybe soon. Who knows. Just a random thought...hmmm. Sony cellphones FUCKING suck!. Mine has started going out on and off. Just like my last one. I don't know why the quality of these phones are so horrible, but dammnnn. Anyways, I finally got that transmission installed in that van. I still have my touch. I would have had it in there in 1 day if I had an engine hoist(cherry picker). But with brute force, and luck, I finally finished and it's up and running again. After tearing my hands to pieces. The end of one of my fingers is still numb from wear it fell on my hand. I thought for a minute I cut off my finger. I was wearing gloves, so I couldn't tell. But I didn't, but my finger is numb. A small price to pay, I guess. But it's cool, and finshed like I said. Another day, another blog..See yah

UFC buys PRIDE FC
Well, it's official. The UFC/Zuffa has purchased PRIDE FC. It was announced at a press conference in Japan. Now we get to see some of the fights we have always wanted to see. It seems PRIDE will keep the ring, and UFC will keep the cage. PRIDE will still be mostly in Japan, and the UFC here in the states. I was really happy to hear the news. Like most people were. It will give us the chance to see Fedor vs Cro Cop 2, Shogun vs The iceman. But it makes me wonder though, if PRIDE will keep the super heavy weight division. For guys like Zulu, and Butterbean. I mean everyone like to see a freakshow every now and then. From the way I understand it, there will be rule changes in Pride. No more soccer kicks, head stomps, or knees to the head on a downed opponent. Ok, I can understand not having head stomps and soccer kicks. But knees to the head should be allowed. It would make some guys think twice before shooting in, another weapon against the take down. I know alot of people want to see this rule change, including myself. So we will see where it goes from here. I think they are going to have a universal rules committee to over see the rules, and changes for Pride FC. Maybe so the rules won't be much different from each one. It will make it easier for the transitions for the fighters. I can't wait to see what the future of MMA will be.

Kimbo to fight Ray Mercer in first MMA fight
Another day in the neighborhood, early in the morning, or well late at night. Which ever way you wanna look at it. Alright, I heard today the Kimbo, the "Internet famous" under ground street fighter will be making his debut in MMA soon. I think it's against Ray Mercer if what I heard was correct. For a debut fight, Mercer will be right up Kimbo's alley, and stand there and bang, trading shots. It's not going to be any kind of ground war, with sub attempts all over the place. And since Mercer is nowhere near what he was back in the day, is should be basically an good fight for Kimbo. Just from the fact he has fought underground, and knows what to expect. I think a few elbows will drop Mercer. But Kimbo has power too. How would he do against a medium pure MMA fighter? At this point not very good. Until he learns the game. But what do I know? They might heel hook, or kimura each other...Who knows. Kimbo is popular, many have seen his fights from the Internet. Fighting unknown skill level fighters. Basically cans off the street, that get the shit beat out of them in just a few minutes. We will see how it goes, and I do want to see how good he does. He has pretty good accuracy and punch power. With a good chin. And if he gets tagged, it will be tested. As Mercer does have alot of power too. Should be a pretty good match, for the freak show, if nothing else. I hope it's on free TV, but I dought it, as it will be on a smaller show, I forgot which one..

Knee strikes should be
The talk today is the inclusion of knee strikes on a downed fighter in the UFC. For those that don't know, you are not allowed to knee the other fighter in the head while he is down. You are allowed to strike to the body with the knee, but not the head. I think they should allow this, because it will stop alot of stalling while on the ground. It will give advantage to fighters who have minimal wrestling skills, against a good wrestling stalling. Pride allows knee strikes, but no elbows. They should allow both. I don't agree with the soccer kick and head stomps, even though it does make it more fun to watch, and more violent. hehe But knees should be allowed. Knee strikes are made for a knockout and blunt force trama. While elbows, although effect at times, are mostly to gash open a cut for a stoppage, or at least make the fighter think he is bleeding to death. An either make the fighter try harder to end the fight sooner, or make him want to give up faster. Alot of people like to watch a techical fight. But the adverage fan likes to see blood and carnage. And basically 2 guys just beat the fuck out of each other. It is why they still talk about the Bonner/Griffin fight till this day. Just 2 TUF finalist, that basically stood there and beat the shit out of each other. They didn't go to the ground hardly at all. But just stood in front and swung for the fences, to quote Joe Rogan. I don't think they will ever allow soccer kicks and head stomps in the UFC, but at least allow knee strikes!

Bluetooth Newbie
Another day in the neighborhood on a sunday afternoon. Or always afternoon. You know I have had a bluetooth ear piece for my mobile phone for a long time. I got it free somewhere, but just never used it. So yesterday I decided to that I might start using it, so I can keep my face away from my Sony phone. Sony's tend to not be that reliable. As I have went through 2 of them already. They attract moisture easily or something. I never have gotten them wet, but they stopped working, and the factory said it had gotten wet. And then I get explained to, that the sweat from my dace could cause it, or just from my pocket. I had a Nokia a long time before that. And basically beat the shit out of it, and it never failed me once. But going through 2 Sony's in less than 2 years suck. So I decied to use bluetooth. It takes some getting used to, like answering the phone from your ear instead of flipping it open. And keeping it charged it another thing to. It's a Samsung, which does fit comfortible. If you do drive while talking on the phone, it is better to use bluetooth or a handsfree device so it won't distract you that much from the road. No more that a radio would do. But I like it so far. It's louder in my ear, and I can hear better. My advice is to try one out. And for buying a cellphone, never buy Sony!. Buy Nokia, LG, or a Razr or something. Never buy Sony. The first Sony I bought lasted all of 3 weeks! The second one fades in and out. Most of the time worked, but still had problems. And from what I hear I wasn't the only one. But Sony laptops are nice.

Evolution of MMA over Boxing
Ok it's saturday afternoon and I just watched some boxing on tv. I don't even remember who was boxing. But it got me thinking about the evolution of fighting sports and why mma is so popular. And why basically is taking the place of boxing in PPV buys and more popular. First the leeaches haven't attached themselves to the fighters. The fighters fight because they love to fight. Some guys hold down a regular job and fight every chance they get. Alot run studios that teach a system. And all MMA fighters are hybrids. Meaning they were really great at one thing, wether it was striking, wrestling, or thai boxing. And cross trained into other things that wasn't there dicipline. Being trained in all of those makes for a better fighter. And closer to a real street fight than boxing does. Which makes the fights more exciting. When you can't just sit there and hold forever if you are getting your teeth knocked out. Or lay on the ground forever so you won't get punched. It is an evolution in fighting. And you will really see it in the next 10 years. When kids are pure cross-trained in everything and not hybrids. That is when you will start seeing real superstars of mma. And boxing the way it is now, will fade into a distant memory..

Transmission trouble
A saturday moring and another day in the neighborhood. I think I am pretty handy when it comes to car repair, as I have had enough experiance doing the shit to know it back and forth. Dodge and Chrysler products for sure. But having to change a damn front wheel drive transmission, by yourself can be a big pain in the ass. Along with not having the right tools, and trying to go totally old school. And old school means a couple of jacks, a few 2x4's and good old fashion muscle power. I have done it before, but it has been so long ago, it seems like I have forgotten how or something. And it just plain wants to be a are difficult as it can be. Or maybe I have lost my touch, who knows. Or I might just be touched in the head to begin with. Which wouldn't be the first time I have used that excuse. I might have to rent a Cherry picker or something just to get the damn thing in the right position. All the people I use to get advice from on these things are gone. So I have to think and work it out for myself. And hopefully get it done. Which I will, one way or the other. coool

Another Day
Another day in the neighborhood and it seems like one that has been pretty easy so far. As I am watching CNN today, instead of the normal Fox news. It's a change of pace, and it's always better to get your news and info from more than just one place. Most tv news has it's spin on it's reports, and if you watch everything, even your local news, it either leans left or right. But get your information from a couple of sources, including the internet and then you will get at least most of the real story. Instead of just taking one source as gospel or something. Unless you just watch Cspan all the time, you get an opinionated view of the news. It is just as simple as that.

The ending to Training day
I love this movie. At the end, it's like a king losing his kingdom. The people he thought he ruled and controlled. A really awesome movie. If you get a chance you should check it out
